Diese Baidarkaseiten liegen schon eine Ewigkeit auf Linux Rechnern. Flying Penguin heißt die Seite jetzt weil das vor langer Zeit mein nickname war. Damals, als ich noch Baidarkas gebaut habe und mit dem Linux Flugsimulator "geflogen" bin. 

 

Teilweise ist der Inhalt in Englisch, weil die Baidarka Seiten seit 1995 internationales Publikum haben. Später kamen die Gleitflugzeuge hinzu und die Seite explodierte. Mit Jimdo habe ich nun wieder eine Chance, das Chaos zu bändigen. Dank an Marc für den Tip!

This slide show was initially about Baidarkas and changed its focus towards folding boats and Greenland style kayaks. ''Baidarka'' is a russian word for ''small boat'' which got used not only for Aleut kayaks but especially for Kodiak kayaks which differ noticeably in construction. This project was initiated by George Dyson's book ''Baidarka''. I consider the three-hole Kodiak Baidarkas to be his most inspiring work, together with the part of the book that treats their history. What got me started into the Baidarka thing in the first place is the nice connection he made between Boeing aircraft, aluminum tubing, scrap yards and Epoxy resin.
